Tap New Pattern → From Photo, pick an image, then adjust pattern width, fabric count and number of colors. The preview updates live. Turn on Remove Background to keep only your subject, and use the Light Effects sliders to fine-tune before creating.
Fabric count is the number of stitches per inch of your fabric (Aida 14 = 14 stitches per inch). A 100 × 75 stitch pattern on 10-count fabric finishes at 10.0 × 7.5 inches; the same pattern on 14-count finishes smaller. StitchX shows the finished size as you change either value.
Open a pattern and switch to Progress mode. Tap or swipe across stitches to cross them off; the completion bar and stitch counts update instantly. Use the menu to reset progress at any time.
In the editor menu choose Share Pattern. This sends a .stitchx file via AirDrop, Messages, mail — anything in the share sheet. Your friend taps Import Pattern in their library to open it. Progress is not included in shares; everyone starts fresh.
Choose Export PDF in the editor menu. The PDF includes a color cover with fabric math, symbol chart pages with bold lines every 10 stitches, and a full floss legend with DMC numbers and stitch counts.
